Nova Television was established in 1994. In 2000 it became 100% property of “Antenna Bulgaria”. On July 18, 2003 Nova Television was granted a license for national airing of the channel’s program and it became the second private national TV station in the country.

CHALLENGE - Update the complete TV infrastructure

Nova TV infrastructure was working on an analogue basis. Since its creation in the early 90’s, the TV channel had not updated its technology. The TV channel did not have the appropriate material to challenge its competitors.

As a result Nova TV asked BCE not only to update the technology they used so far, but also to define the best location for their infrastructure with the best possible architectural configuration.

A new building
BCE was in charge of the consultancy to find a new building, as their infrastructure aims at flexibility and a modern architecture.
BCE was also in charge of the management of the different yard’s actors (electricians, masons, painters, etc...). The TV channel is spread on three floors, totally interconnected.

Playout and broadcasting
BCE installed two playout rooms, one for production and another for news with a direct link to a news room. The tapeless system is networked between the playout rooms, the broadcast control room, the broadcast media ingest control and news media ingest control.

Studios and editing suites
Two studios were created for Nova TV, one for news and another for productions. Each studio is directly connected to the news and production master control rooms, allowing live events as well as a much faster completion of programs via the editing suites.

Team training
New technology means new organisation, new work-flow and new user interfaces. In order to ensure the channel launch, BCE was present during several weeks to train and follow Nova TV’s team in the use of their new installations.
