February, 4th to 11th 2006 - BCE now active in Africa ! BCE has been active in Senegal, for the shooting of the 2 concerts of the musician Youssou N'Dour in the frame of the production of the documentary "Retour à Gorée". This is a co-production with CAB and IRIS Productions.
The film is about the development of jazz and its roots in the slave trade, and features musician Youssou N'Dour, who follows the road the slaves took and the music they created. The Swiss pianist Moncef Genoud and Joseph Diaye, a Senegalese singer, accompany him. The programme tours the United States and Europe and finishes in Gorée, a Senegalese island symbolising the slave trade, where a concert takes place. The film will be broadcast in the cinema at 35mm, along with a DVD release and a television showing. |
