BCE powers Basketball Champions League coverage with end-to-end media services

Following the end of the 2025–2026 Basketball Champions League (BCL) season, BCE delivered a full suite of media services to support one of Europe’s leading basketball competitions across production, distribution and delivery.

Throughout the season, BCE provided end-to-end services including remote commentary, signal acquisition, archiving, and global content distribution, ensuring seamless operations across a high volume of live games and contributing to the overall success of the competition.

Over the course of the season, BCE supported the Basketball Champions League in covering 178 games, including 174 using Holovox, its cloud-based remote commentary solution, enabling commentators to contribute live from anywhere, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.

To support this large-scale operation, BCE deployed a robust technical workflow across the entire production chain. Incoming feeds were downlinked via BCE’s Teleport in Luxembourg, then decoded, recorded and archived, ensuring full availability of content for distribution and replay purposes.

“BCE has played a key role in supporting the Basketball Champions League with efficient, scalable and reliable media services. From remote commentary to content distribution, their end-to-end approach has enabled us to manage a demanding live production environment while maintaining the highest standards of quality.” Says Nikos Menoudarakos, Senior Operations Manager at Basketball Champions League.

Content was delivered to broadcasters using SRT streaming protocols, enabling reliable and high-quality transmission across IPTV and OTT platforms. This infrastructure ensured seamless delivery to partners worldwide and supported the global visibility of the Basketball Champions League.

In total, this represented 560 hours of satellite reception and 2,893 hours of content distribution, highlighting the scale and consistency of BCE’s operations throughout the season.

This operational setup is part of a broader collaboration in which BCE acts as a trusted partner, providing centralized workflows and ensuring reliable delivery to international broadcasters. The project also includes the recording and distribution of all games to partners worldwide, reinforcing the global reach of the competition.

By combining its technical infrastructure, operational expertise and cloud-based solutions, BCE continues to support the Basketball Champions League in delivering high-quality live sports coverage, while enabling greater flexibility and efficiency in production workflows.

“This second Basketball Champions League season reflects a strong collective effort and close collaboration with BCL. Together, we continuously evolved Holovox to better meet users’ needs, further strengthening the product and delivering tangible value.” says Nicolas Grumbach, Service Delivery Manager at BCE.

“This season once again demonstrates our ability to manage high-volume live sports productions with efficiency and reliability. By combining operational expertise with flexible and scalable technologies, we support major competitions like the Basketball Champions League in delivering high-quality content to audiences worldwide.” Says Stefan Weidner, Sales Director DACH at BCE
