BCE mourns Tun Van Rijswijck

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the loss of our colleague Tun Van Rijswijck. Tun has passed away on 30 April 2020 at the age of 59, after a serious illness.

Elmar Heggen, COO and Deputy CEO of RTL Group and Head of Corporate Centre, says: “In Tun we lost a remarkable man, a committed, considerate and smiling colleague who has dedicated almost 40 years of his career to the development of our business. Tun will be remembered as a man appreciated for his professionalism, but also for his humanity, kindness and social action.”

Fred Lemaire, CEO de BCE, says: “In Tun, we lost a beloved colleague and a valuable friend. Tun played an instrumental role in the development of BCE and always showed a great deal of energy and commitment to get the company and his teams grow in a positive way and always in a good mood. He will be remembered for his professionalism alongside his endless cheerful disposition, but also for his kindness and generosity towards his colleagues. BCE and his staff will deeply miss him. All our thoughts and love go to his family.”

Tun began his career in 1982 with RTL Productions. In 2000, the year BCE was founded, Tun joined the BCE teams as Vice President Business Development FTO. In February 2002, he was promoted to Chief Production & Broadcasting Operations and a few months later, in May, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer, a position he held until the end of his life.

Tun will be fondly remembered as a dynamic, smiling and dedicated colleague who contributed to the success of BCE’s work. Tun was greatly appreciated and loved by all his colleagues. He will also be remembered as an avid sportsman. He was captain of the Swift Hesperange football club that took down the Coupe de Luxembourg in 1990.

Long before climate protection became one of the most pressing issues for a large number of people, Tun was passionate about environmental protection and reducing CO2 emissions. As a founding member of RTL Group’s Environmind team, he was imperative to define the Group‘s first environmental goals and to coordinate the carbon footprint measurements.
